Social interaction can at times seem difficult. One must constantly work with or around a set of unspoken rules and laws established in social settings long ago. There are many reasons why these unwritten rules and regulations were created, and while some of them are obscure and too esoteric to fully grasp in the modern setting, most of them were established to assist in conducting and facilitating interactions between a wide groups of individuals from many different walks of life. This difference between parties created a need for something that could allow them all to create connections and therefore allow them to interact, hence the rules of Social Etiquette were born.
Its inception however created a difficult and complicated minefield to navigate for the inexperienced and uninitiated. Compounding matters is how the majority of people knowingly or unknowingly operate within the paradigms of Social Etiquette and therefore take offense from slights committed against them by the uninformed, inexperienced, and uninitiated. This is a simply disastrous outcome, especially in a place where interaction and cooperation are paramount such as the workplace; this can be a hindrance at best, and have repercussions at worst if left unaddressed.

Much like a complicated dance, social etiquette has a lot of things to consider before and during your performance, it can range from the basics such as which social context you find yourself in, the acceptable and unacceptable behaviors therein, one’s capacity to be courteous and display socially acceptable behaviors, as well as being able to deal with problem individuals and how to assist them or mitigate their capacity to disrupt this delicate waltz, and even how these behaviors extend to media beyond those we use with our eyes, ears, and tongue. Learn the various kinds of Social Etiquette that is to be expected of them
As this training program is on general social etiquette, while there are many universal mannerisms, attitudes, and behaviors that all forms of social etiquette conform to, there behaviors deemed acceptable in one kind of social context that may not be applicable to others. To that end, learners of Social Etiquette training are taught the many kinds of social settings they are expected to find themselves in – be it the workplace, meetings, parties, and many more – and are then taught the basics, similarities and differences between them.
Define appropriate and inappropriate behaviors and the reasoning behind them
Most of the ‘dos and don’ts’ of Social Etiquette are hard to describe but easy to identify once the necessary markers have been shown or otherwise demonstrated to even a casual observer. In some of the earliest lessons of Social Etiquette training, learners are exposed to these behaviors both good and bad in simulations that attempt to recreate or mimic normal interaction as closely as possible. Once this is done, learners are then taught the reasoning behind why these behaviors are looked upon kindly or frowned upon using a mix of historical context as well as more practical reasons as to why these are the way they are; allowing learners a firmer and more complete understanding of these behaviors overall.
Display proficiency in using various media channels/methods for social interaction
In the workplace and beyond, many forms of media are available to facilitate social interaction; be it through more traditional media such as the written word or telephones, to the high-tech world of social media and other platforms people use to communicate online. As Social Etiquette Training covers all forms of etiquette from regular interactions between individuals like in “get togethers”, the workplace, and in meetings, as well as those facilitated by media both new and old, learners will also be informed how to operate, converse, or otherwise properly utilize these tools for social interaction, ensuring that learners have a more complete perception of etiquette and its importance, even in the new media.
Be capable of working with difficult people
One of the greater challenges that learners of Social Etiquette must face are what are termed as difficult people. These individuals vary wildly, from the uninitiated and ill-informed through to those who are intentionally violating the socially acceptable for whatever purpose they may have. There are many ways to deal with these problem individuals as will be taught to our learners, but equally important is the ability of our learners to identify the intent of these violators; for while there may be methods to deal with these troublemakers in a neutral manner, other methods require much more severe measures that should only be carried out if fully warranted. Learners hence are also given methods and strategies to reliably identify the intent of these individuals and then deal with them in the most appropriate manner possible.
Develop attitudes that promote Social Etiquette
More than just a configuration of mannerisms, attitudes, gestures, and words that a person must operate under and conform to when in a social environment that demands a form of etiquette to be practiced and displayed, social etiquette is also an attitude, philosophy, and frame of mind that enables the person to perform an display the requisite actions, attitudes, and behaviors with greater motivation and determination to do so. Much like the more technical aspects of Social Etiquette Training, these can be taught and demonstrated to learners and can thus be developed through a bit of practice and constant repetition.
