We teach the “How to” in this section. Learning how to schedule jobs will assist increase results and improve the time frame required to do this task.
- Planning and organizing projects or appointments
This section is more in depth and discusses the different formats and systems to plan and organize projects. We give participants a set of systems and also provide a live example and activity for the team to try out the new tools.
- Action Vs Planning
Time spent on action may help get things done, however without planning you may run into areas or issues. Learn why action and planning go hand in hand together and how some of us are more likely to act without a plan and how that can actually take more time to complete the task than doing a little preparation or planning beforehand.
- Uncertainty and Risk Management
Set up contingency plans for critical path items, unanticipated events, and risk. Responding to risk, monitoring and controlling.
- How to introduce a scheduling system that works
Introducing any system can be difficult. Our trainers provide expertise and advice here on how to introduce a scheduling system effectively.
- Human error and relationship problem solving
How the human element can change your plans and schedules. Being prepared and ready to avert crisis and relationship problems within the process.

Schedules and jobs
To begin, participants will review what this job entails and why these programs are so important.
The Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)
This session will teach participants what a Work Breakdown Structure is, what its role is, what formats and numbering can be utilized, and the procedure to create one. Participants will begin by creating their own WBS, then will receive strategies to estimate the length of the job as well as each task.
Estimating Case Study
In this session, participants will perform job approximations for their camping trip endeavor.
Identifying Task Dependencies
In this session, participants will learn the four types of dependencies and essential definitions. Participants will also complete two exercises to give them some hands-on practice.
Aligning Resources with Tasks
Next, participants will learn about Resource Breakdown Structures resources, resource scheduling, and resource leveling.
In this session, participants will be shown the best way to create network diagrams, use the Critical Path Method and also the Program Evaluation and Review Technique (PERT), and create Gantt charts. Participants will go through the complete Critical Path Method to create a network diagram with earliest and latest start and finish times.
In this session, participants will talk about the advantages and disadvantages of using project management software.
Doubt and Risk Management
Whether we choose to address it or not, there are forms of danger in every endeavor we undertake. This session will give participants some methods to handle risk.
This session will learn more about the four key elements of any communication and give participants a framework for communicating with various project team members. Participants may also complete a communication strategy.
Developing a Workable Program
Each of the last topics will come together in this section to make a workable schedule. Participants will also brainstorm solutions for common scheduling problems.
Monitoring and updating the Schedule
To wrap up the class, participants will receive some tips about schedule management.
