Emotions. A facet or quality that all human beings possess which separates or differentiates them from nearly any other creature or being on this planet. Drawn from and fueled by both external stimuli and internal, natural interactions between neurons and hormones generated from within the brain, a person’s emotions are an underappreciated but extremely powerful source of energy which a person can draw from and hence utilise in anything from simple interactions between individual and object through various apparatuses to complex and intangible tasks requiring immense energy to work out ideas and concepts that technically only exist within the mind.
This powerful tool is however a double-edged sword, as improper application or outright misuse of these very tools can be a hindrance if not a downright liability in private interactions, much less in social situations, and most certainly in the workplace. Poor management of emotions in the context of the workplace may place undue strain on an already tenuous work environment breeding further toxicity and or resentment therein, emotional outbursts can cause delays costing organisations immensely, and most dangerous of all, poorly understood and misdiagnosed emotional stress present within peers, employees, and associates can not only cause problems within the corporate structure, but more alarmingly cause immense if not permanent harm to these suffering individuals.

Gain insight in the world of emotion
Emotions are by their very nature very complex as they are made up of and influenced by a myriad of factors and values that all coalesce into a single expression of a single, or many intangible concepts all at once that cannot be easily explained away by citing one minute part of it or another. Further compounding already complicated matters is how these emotions work and are generated, as factors both external such as stimuli from the environment, and internal such as ones’ capacity to produce certain hormones can also greatly affect which emotions are present or even how they are to be interpreted. EQ training involves a general study of emotion and its many differing facets with the goal of interpreting and understanding its core and fundamental concepts.
Learn the basics of Emotional Intelligence
In Emotional Intelligence training one has to be able to learn of not only emotion in of itself but its many manifestations and outcomes. There are many theories surrounding the many manifestations of these emotional phenomenon from gesture to tone, as well as other even more obfuscated mannerisms that can also indicate its existence. Numerous studies and methodologies will be made available to learners to identify these in a timely manner and correctly and appropriately respond to them.
Develop self-awareness and self-management of their personal emotions
In social settings and particularly the workplace, certain actions are permitted and others are prohibited according to an unwritten and unspoken collection of rules and regulations omnipresent in these settings which nobody can precisely name until asked but everyone can understand or are at the very least aware of. One’s emotions can – if not properly handled or expressed – lead to disruptions, delays, or outright detriments in a collaborative social setting with the end-goal of producing or manufacturing a certain product or service to a consumer. In one of their earliest micro-applications of their lessons, EQ students are expected to be able to control and properly utilize and express their emotions in social settings and/or in the workplace using methods, strategies, and ideas developed and derived from trusted and well-researched data from relevant fields of study.
Identify and appropriately respond to emotional cues from peers
As was stated before, there are many ways for someone’s emotions to manifest, even if intentionally or unintentionally obfuscated by people adversely afflicted by them. One’s posture, tone of voice, inflection, mannerisms, character tics, and so on, are all cue-cards and dead giveaways to our learners who through our Emotional Intelligence training program have been taught how to spot these manifestations, their prescribed – if not fully intended – meanings, and therefore how to most appropriately and promptly respond to them ensuring swift and safe treatment of employees or peers within the workplace.
How to apply lessons in a Macro and Micro capacity
An EQ Learner’s true test in terms of flexibility and ability lies within the workplace which can be divided into the general workplace or the macro field, and on the individual level or micro field. As organisations of certain sizes are often too large or too impractical to be worked around with or addressed individually. The learner must be – and will be taught how to be – able to respond to the emotional demands and problems faced by the greater multitude, as well as how to treat and hopefully alleviate single individuals with their own grievances within these large organisations.
